Lib Dems Outline Plans to Provide Opportunity for All

Liberal Democrats members have voted to endorse the key priorities for the Party’s General Election Manifesto – committing to build a stronger economy, fairer society and provide opportunity for all.

Conference agreed key priorities  for the next parliament including:

- Balancing the books

- Cutting income tax by £400 for low and middle earners

- An ongoing commitment to protect the environment
- Guaranteeing equal care and waiting times for mental health as for physical health by meeting the financial   needs of the NHS

- Ensuring every child is taught by a qualified teacher, raising educational standards to world class levels and protecting spending on nurseries, schools and colleges.

David Laws MP, Chair of the Manifesto Committee, said:

“Liberal Democrats are committed to delivering a stronger economy in a fairer society, where everyone can get on in life. Our manifesto for the general election builds on our strong record of delivery and is a promise of more.

“We have delivered a huge amount of our previous manifesto from the last election despite the Tory advantage in numbers, including the biggest ever income tax cut for millions of people, the biggest ever cash rise in the state pension and £2.5bn to the most disadvantaged children through our Pupil Premium.

“We are focussed on making sure that we build a society where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.”

The final General Election manifesto will be published in the short campaign.
