Elizabeth Adams visits Stratford-on-Avon foodbank to meet staff and volunteers and see how the foodbanks provide help to residents in need.
Elizabeth would like to thank all the staff and volunteers who work extremely hard at the foodbanks located in our district.
Elizabeth visited both the food storage spaces and the foodbank in operation to see what is involved in gathering the food, making up the food boxes, how they are classified and how residents can obtain a food parcel as individuals, couples or families.
Although the work done by the staff and volunteers is superb, clearly it is a disgrace in 21st Century Britain that people are having to be signposted to foodbanks. Elizabeth is determined to work for change in the system, including addressing benefit delays that are leading to a rise in foodbank usage.
